The Canaveral National Seashore has partially reopened today after Hurricane Matthew hit Florida’s east coast.

  • Canaveral National Seashore reopened at 8 a.m. Saturday
  • Boardwalks, docks and roadways damage
  • Some areas will have limited access

The storm damaged boardwalks, docks, bathroom facilities and roadways. Officials say repairs could take several weeks.

There will be limited access to the beach and some parking areas will be completely closed. Bathroom facilities will also be limited in some areas.

Recovery teams are working to clean up and restore areas to reopen to the public.

Visitors are urged to pay attention to “closed area signs” and watch for heavy debris on the beaches.
