Here's the weather forecast for Central Florida for Friday night and the upcoming weekend:

  • Fast-moving showers continue into the weekend
  • Highs forecast to stay in the mid 80s through next week
  • Make sure the beach is open before heading to the coast

An isolated shower or sprinkle remains possible overnight, but the chance will be 20 percent or less. Otherwise, we will have partly cloudy conditions as the wind relaxes through mid-morning Saturday. Lows tonight will dip into the mid to upper 60s and then climb back into the mid 80s for highs Saturday. There is a 30 percent chance for afternoon showers.

A cold front took a run at us from the Central Plains, making it to the east coast, but the southern part of the cold front is fizzling out before reaching Central Florida. High pressure building behind the cold front will set up along the east coast of the United States, stretching into Florida. So, similar conditions to what we have been having for the past several days will continue this weekend.

Each afternoon, our wind will increase from the east-northeast anywhere from 10 mph to 15 mph, with gusts between 20-30 mph on the Atlantic coast.

Some low-level moisture will be pulled in from offshore, giving us a 30 percent chance for a few fast-moving showers that could deliver minimal rainfall. High temperatures will remain in the mid to low 80s under a partly sunny sky.

Nicole is moving at a fast pace northeast into the north Atlantic. We will still have long period swells this weekend that will begin to subside late Sunday into early next week.

Breezy onshore winds combined with a long period swell from departing Nicole and high tide will create hazardous ocean conditions. Surfing looks to be poor with 4- to 6-foot waves. Onshore flow is also keeping the rip current risk high.
