Flagler County is closing its Hurricane Matthew assistance center and instead making it a virtual center that can be accessed from any computer.

  • Flagler County is closing the physical location of its assistance center
  • The assistance center is now virtual and can be found at www.flaglerassist.com

Earlier this week, the county announced it opened an assistance center at the Flagler County Public Library, located at 2500 Palm Coast Parkway N.W.

The virtual center is online at www.flaglerassist.com. The site is available now. Links to various agencies are on the site to ease the process for people after Hurricane Matthew caused extensive damage to Flagler County.

Although a federal declaration has yet to be made to qualify Flagler County for individual assistance, people can pre-register at www.disasterassistance.gov. The site is included on the assistance center's website.

Filling out the "address look-up" currently provides the following message: "No disasters declared for individual assistance were found for this address." Despite the message, people can still apply for assistance: "The system will let you proceed if early registration is open for your state or county. Your application will proceed if your county is added to an active declaration."

There is also a FEMA helpline available from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. seven days a week. Call 800-621-3362.
