In the hardest hit areas of Central Florida, tree removal companies claim there aren't enough cranes or certified crane operators to help remove trees on homes and businesses following Hurricane Matthew.

Several homeowners in Port Orange face more damage because their homes continue to be exposed to the elements.

Peggy Donnellan, of Port Orange, said a 40-foot oak tree crashed into her home Friday morning, destroying her roof and causing water damage inside her home.

"We got to the backyard and saw the devastating tree," Donnellan said. "And we're like, 'Woah, something (has) to be done about that.'"

In the five days following Hurricane Matthew, Don's Tree Service cleared up as much as they could while staying safe.

"They said, 'Yep, you're going to need a crane,'" Donnellan said of the tree removal service.

Donnellan was placed on the waiting list, which lasted several days. The large tree was moved Wednesday afternoon.

Tree removal crews in Port Orange and Ormond Beach have had to call as far as Orlando to bring cranes to the area to help remove trees from homes.
