An Ocala man was shot and killed Sunday by a neighbor who intervened in a fight between the man and his girlfriend, deputies say.
Deputies responded to 5703 SW 108th St. at 1:32 a.m. after receiving a call about a shooting.
When they arrived, they say they learned Michael Ratliff had been involved in a physical altercation with his girlfriend, Alyse Lazaro.
At some point, Lazaro ran to her neighbor's house for help. The neighbor, identified as Ryan Panzegraf, came back to the house with Lazaro.
Deputies say another physical altercation ensued, during which Panzegraf shot Ratliff in the chest.
Ratliff was taken to Ocala Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
No arrests have been made at this time. The case remains under investigation, and will be sent to the State Attorney's Office for review.
