The Orange County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim of a fatal shooting in Pine Castle on Tuesday.

Corneilus Demarcus Anderson, 29, was the man found shot to death by responding deputies just after 10 a.m. at a house on 19th Street and Westmoreland Drive, the Sheriff's Office said Wednesday.

Witnesses saw a man leaving the scene in a newer model, white, four-door Buick, driving northbound on Westmoreland Drive, according to deputies.

“Our detectives believe that this was not a random act of violence," said Jane Watrel, with the Orange County Sheriff's Office. "[We] want people to know that there is not a killer on the loose.”

Detectives have not yet released a motive for the shooting but did say that witnesses reported seeing an older black man wearing black clothing and a skull cap leaving the scene in a newer model white, four-door Buick, heading northbound on Westmoreland.

“It's just bringing back memories of when my two boys got killed over here. It’s painful. That’s why I came," said Mary Jones as she stood by the shooting scene. Jones said she knows what the victim’s mother will be going through: She went through it herself, losing her two sons to violence.

“I just hope they get caught, whoever did it. I hope they catch them," she said, adding that she knew the victim through her sons as well.

Jones said she worries the neighborhood won’t help to catch the killer. People, she said, are fearful of coming forward. But, she hopes the victim's family will get the closure that she didn’t.

“Justice for his Mom," she said, "I didn’t get no [sic] justice. I want justice for her. Justice for his Mom.”
