More than 600 Florida National Guard members who left for an overseas deployment last month have fiinished their training in Texas and will now head to the Horn of Africa.

Last Thursday, the Florida Army National Guard’s 2nd Battalion, 124th Infantry Regiment "Seminoles" cased their colors in a Color-Casing Ceremony at McGregor Range, Fort Bliss, Texas. The ceremony signals the battalion's readiness to deploy.

During their training in Texas, the soldiers performed individual and team weapons exercises, close quarter combat, security and combat air assault training.

The soldiers are deploying to the Horn of Africa in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, where they will help provide training to other African nations as well as conduct security operations for troops already deployed in the Horn of Africa.
