The trial for Victoria Rios — the Osceola County woman charged with first-degree murder in the death of a 22-year-old Poinciana man — has been postponed again.

Rios' trial was supposed to begin Monday, but the defense filed a motion to supress eight hours of videotaped statements from Rios after the murder.

The defense wants the videotaped statements dropped from the trial. An Osceola County judge said this is the final postponement in the trial.

Rios, who was 17 years old at the time of the crime, claims she never touched the weapon that killed Eric Roopnarine, but investigators said she is still one of four involved in the man's death.

Investigators said Rios is accused of luring Roopnarine to answer his door. He was then jumped by Rios' accomplices.

Kissimmee police detectives said Konrad Schafer, who was 15 at the time, and David Damus rushed into Roopnarine's home to rob him after Rios lured Roopnarine to the door with the alleged promise of prostitution services.

Juan Sebastian Muriel is said to have been the getaway driver. Muriel accepted a plea deal in 2014 and agreed to testify against his three co-defendants for a lesser sentence of 10 years behind bars and five years of probation.

According to Rios' statements to investigators, she claims Damus, who has since been found guilty of first-degree murder, robbed Roopnarine and then shot him. Damus faces life in prison, but he has yet to be sentenced.

Roopnarine was shot in the face and stabbed several times in his neck. A butcher knife was left on top of his body and Roopnarine's mother discovered her dead son hours later.

Damus denied the allegations during his trial and claimed Schafer is the one who pulled the trigger.

Rios, now 19, also told investigators Schafer stabbed Roopnarine multiple times.

An Xbox, a TV and some cash were stolen from Roopnarine's home.

Rios claims she was outside of the home when the actual murder took place.

Roopnarine's father, Pooran Roopnarine, has been present at all of the court hearings.
