The Florida Highway Patrol said it is looking for a driver who hit two skateboarders over the weekend, critically injuring one of them.

It happened Saturday night shortly before midnight on Lake Howell Road near Maywood Road in Seminole County, near the Orange County line.

Investigators said a car traveling north hit the two young men from behind as they were skateboarding down the road.

Brandyn Keif, 19, and Omar Galarza, 18, were both injured, and troopers said Galarza suffered serious head injuries.

The area on Lake Howell Road where troopers say two skateboarders were hit by a car late Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015.

Friends and former classmates gathered Monday morning at Altamonte Christian School to pray for Galarza, who graduated from the school in May.

"I don't know if he was scared and left the scene of the crime, or what he was thinking, but he should have stayed for this person, because we're all human beings here," Jose Carbonel, a friend of Galarza's, said of the unidentified driver.

Troopers said they recovered a side mirror from a car at the scene and are looking for a gray or silver, 2014 or 2015 Mazda 3.
