A deal ends the fight over a million-dollar home built in Flagler County on the wrong lot.

We first told you about Mark Voss’ home in a Palm Coast subdivision last October. The neighborhood, called Hammock Dunes, is a beachside community with high-end homes.

A spokesman with the county deeds office says the surveyor staked the wrong lot, creating the million-dollar mistake.

"If you catch it before anything is built, it’s a small mistake,” said Flagler County property appraiser James Gardner.

According to the property appraiser, even if the story had not gone public, both property owners would have learned about the mix-up when it came time to collect property taxes.

The property is assessed at close to a million dollars.

“We have to put the property together the way it is. It doesn’t matter who built that house, it’s on that property and it becomes assessable at that point. We did change it for this year so it was good for them to settle it,” said Gardner.

And settle they did.

According to Gardner, both property owners agreed to swap lots.

"They come to a conclusion and traded the lot that the house is on from the vacant one next door. And I’m not sure what the terms were, but they did get it settled apparently,” said Gardner.

We’ve learned Voss is now planning to sell the house, trying to put the whole fiasco behind him.

We reached out to Voss to see if any money exchanged hands as part of the settlement. We also wanted to see what the asking price is for the home.

So far, Voss has not returned our calls.
