Here's what you need to know for Central Florida's weather for Monday:

  • Rain chances back off slightly Monday
  • Still a decent chance for showers and a few storms
  • Highs in the middle to upper 80s

It has been a gloomy weekend as an area of low pressure over the Gulf kept weather unsettled for Central Florida. We had another line of showers and storms move quickly east Sunday afternoon, dumping quite a bit of rain. The low will track slowly to the northeast over the next couple of days, gradually dropping rain chances.

A few isolated showers may push inland from the west overnight.  Expect mostly cloudy skies as we head toward daybreak with lows in the middle to low 70s.T

While rain chances will back off slightly Monday, there is still a decent chance for showers and a few storms.  Some of the storms will once again hold the potential for heavy rain and gusty wind.  High temperatures will climb into the middle to upper 80s before some rain cooled air for the afternoon.  By mid-week, we’ll be back to a seasonable pattern with afternoon storms and highs around 90 degrees.

In the tropics, the low over the Gulf now has a small chance for tropical development as it moves to the northeast over north Florida.  Whether it develops or not, our conditions will not change much.  We’re still looking at showers and storms Monday and a decent southwest breeze.

So far today we’ve seen a low pressure off the coast of the Gulf bring some heavy rain to the western half of the area. We will see this rain continue east as the afternoon goes on, leaving us partly cloudy skies tonight. Highs today will be in the upper 80’s.

This evening, we will see showers push offshore by night fall. Temperatures will be warm and muggy with lows in the 70’s. By tomorrow we will see a slight decrease in rain chances, and highs will remain slightly cooler than average.

This week we will see decreasing rain chances, along with a slight rise in temperatures. Highs will be in the low 90’s, and lows will be in the 70’s.

In the tropics, we are watching the low pressure that is in the northeastern part of the Gulf. This low currently has a very low chance of developing, and if it were to develop, conditions would be very similar to what we’ve seen this past weekend.
