One person is dead after a Seminole County home was destroyed by an early Sunday morning fire.

That fire started just before three o’clock Sunday morning on Bayou Drive in Casselberry.

When firefighters got to the home it was already too late to save the man living there. Investigators say flames had already consumed much of the home.

“When I saw the flames that really woke me up. The flames were so high I thought they were going to take the trees down. That scares me because those trees would have been on my home, wiped me out,” said Constance Campbell, the victim’s next-door neighbor.

Investigators say firefighters were able to put out the fire in about 20 minutes and keep those flames from spreading to nearby homes. But upon arriving, firefighters found one person dead inside the mobile home.

Several neighbors say the man living at the home was in his 60s, was in poor health and could barely walk.

Investigators confirm there was no running electricity to the home, and neighbors said the man living there often used candles.

Many people in the victim’s Casselberry neighborhood are reacting to the news that one of their neighbors lost his life in the early morning fire.

“It’s very sad for our neighborhood, because we’re pretty close-knit,” said Kimberly Christian, a neighbor.

Investigators with the State Fire Marshal’s said Sunday it’s too early to tell exactly what started the fire.
