If you are longing to re-live your favorite childhood stories in live action, Disney will give you what you crave over the next few years.

Disney's live action film presentation at D23 Expo showed the Mouse House owns almost every major franchise in Hollywood, and they plan to leverage it.

“It’s quite something to be able to have Disney, Marvel and Lucasfilm all on the same stage, and it’s tremendously gratifying to unveil our upcoming projects to our most dedicated fans first,” said Alan Horn, Chairman of the Walt Disney Studios.

Horn and his team offered details on 14 films under the Disney umbrella, from live-action retellings of classics like "Beauty and the Beast," to original films like action film "The Finest Hours," to Marvel and "Star Wars" tentpole films.

Marvel films

Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige and star Chris Evans debuted the first footage and trailer from "Captain America: Civil War."

The clip showed a hands-on battle in a crowded square with Evans, as Captain America, Anthony Mackie, as Falcon, and Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow taking on Crossbones a formidable foe with a powerful punch.

The trailer teases the deep ideological divide between Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man and Evans' Captain America that finds the Avengers fighting one another.

"Civil War," out May 6, is the first in Marvel's "Stage Three" which will continue with "Doctor Strange," starring Benedict Cumberbatch. The British star talked about the film in a video, telling the audience the film had "girls, cars, explosions, astral projects, the usual fare."

Fairy tale classics come to life

Following in the cinematic footsteps of films like "Cinderella," Disney unveiled details for several classic "reimaginings" due to come out in the next few years.

Among the films unveiled, "Beauty and the Beast," starring "Harry Potter" star Emma Watson as Belle. Watson is leading an all-star cast that includes Joshua Gad, Luke Evans, Kevin Kline, Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci, Emma Thompson and Ian McKellen. The film is a live-action musical, and will feature original songs from the animated classic, plus some new songs written by Alan Menken. "Beauty and the Beast" is due out March 17, 2017.

"The Jungle Book" will return to theaters as a live action film. Director Jon Favreau ("Iron Man") took the stage during the presentation, along with Ben Kingsley (Bagheera), Lupita Nyong'o (Raksha) and newcomer Neel Sethi, who will play Mowgli. The film is out April 15, 2016.

"Pete's Dragon," the classic Disney film, is also getting a "reimagining." Bryce Dallas Howard talked about her part in the film about a boy named pete who befriends a dragon named Elliott. Robert Redford, West Bentley and Karl Urban are also part of the cast. The film opens August 12, 2016.

Franchises returning

Johnny Depp appeared to promote the latest Pirates of the Caribbean film -- in character as Captain Jack Sparrow.

"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" sends Sparrow on an adventure to find an artifact to help him fight a new band of ghost pirates, led by Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem). Geoffrey Rush is also returning, as is Orlando Bloom as Will Turner. "Pirates" hits theaters July 7, 2017.

Depp is also returning with much of the cast for "Alice Through the Looking Glass," a sequel to Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland," which opens May 27, 2016.

Films "Inspired by a True Story"

Two new films were unveiled at D23 Expo that were inspired by true stories.

"The Finest House" is a historical film about "the most daring rescue mission in the history of the Coast Guard." The film comes out January 29,2016.

"Queen of Katwe" is the story of an impoverished girl from Uganda who becomes a champion chess player. The film stars Lupita Nyong'o.

Star Wars

Alan Horn announced Saturday that "Jurassic World" director Colin Trevorrow will take on the ninth installment in the "Star Wars" saga.

Trevorrow was previously known for the indie "Safety Not Guaranteed" and broke box office records this summer with the fourth installment in the "Jurassic Park" series. The film has earned more than $1.6 billion worldwide.

The first is director J.J. Abrams' "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," which will hit theaters Dec. 18. Some of the cast members came out for The Force Awakens' talk, including Harrison Ford, but no new footage was shown. Rian Johnson is writing and directing "Star Wars: Episode VIII" for 2017. "Star Wars: Episode IX" is set for 2019.

Speaking of Ford, a film about his eponymous "Star Wars" character, Han Solo, is slated for a May 25, 2018 release date.

Disney also unveiled casting information and a picture for "Star Wars: Rogue One," a new original film about resistance fighters, which takes place before the events of the first Star Wars film. "Rogue One" comes out December 16, 2016.
