The start of school across Florida means a new morning routine in many households. But in Lake Buena Vista, there's a place you can escape the hustle and bustle no matter what day of the week it is.

Each morning at dawn, the hands of time roll back.

"It is very quiet down here," said Tim O'Connor, a Disney recreation host. "People my age when we were young, we could cane-pole fish."

Tucked away in a quiet hammock of Walt Disney World, the old fishing hole is alive and well.

"You take the hook off the bottom, and you put your bait on there," O'Connor said. "Basically, all you do is drop it in the water ... and hopefully you'll catch a fish."

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort is home to the Fishin' Hole.

The deck can hold 18 fishing enthusiasts.

"I have never fished like that before," Lianna Rasimowicz said. "I am used to reeling it in before."

The Rasimowicz sisters are from New Jersey, but they used Disney's Port Orleans as a warm-up before heading home.

"We have the fishing derby tomorrow," Rasimowicz said.

Samantha and Lianna pulled out several sunfish. O'Connor said bluegill, small mouth bass and even catfish make appearances.

"That's the one that always gets away," O'Connor said.

Disney's Imagineers have thought of everything you need: rods, bait, steps for short fishermen, a place to wash your hands and even someone to take the fish off your hook.

It's also better earlier in the day.

Fishing at Walt Disney World's Port Orleans opens at 7 a.m. daily. It costs a little less than $6 per person with everything you need included. Port Orleans is located near Downtown Disney.

“Later in the day, they are full,” O’Connor said of the fish. “They are not biting.”

Added Samantha Rasimowicz: “I think once you catch a fish, you should always stay in that spot.”

The pond is strictly catch-and-release- but everyone who pulls in a catch gets a prize.
