Second Chance Rescue said it received a surprise of a lifetime when an Ormond Beach couple gave them a brand new car stocked with dog supplies!

Second Chance Rescue in Bunnell said it needed a bigger van to transport the animals to and from adoption events. Justin and Brooke Murphy said when they adopted their dog from the group they noticed how small the van was. They also said the van broke down and the rescue couldn't get it fixed.

The Murphys raised more than $3,500 with the help of a GoFundMe account. They bought a new van and stocked it with dog food and supplies.

“It feels really great knowing that we are giving back to these animals and to Second Chance because the animals can’t speak for themselves, you know? We are their voice,” said Brooke Murphy.

Haley Kazee with Second Chance Rescue said their old van could only fit about two to three dogs. The new one can take 10 to 12 dogs to adoption events.

“Honestly, we couldn’t believe it finally happened. We have a lot of people who promise things and say they’re going to do things, but nobody actually follows through,” said Kazee.

Kazee also mentioned Second Chance Rescue tries to help dogs that have been surrendered to high-kill shelters. The rescue does not have an actual shelter for people to come and see the dogs. They hold adoption events every Saturday at the PetSmart in Palm Coast.
