Carrie Fisher, most known for playing Princess Leia in the original "Star Wars" trilogy, spoke Saturday at Tampa Bay Comic Con in downtown Tampa.

She wasn't on the stage alone, though: Fisher brought her dog, Gary, with her.

Fisher spoke for quite some time in front of a large crowd at the Tampa Convention Center, which is being invaded by hordes of geeks from all walks of life for the three-day event that began Friday.

About 50,000 people are expected to hit the halls over the convention's three days.

Some big names across comic, science-fiction, fantasy, anime and more will be meeting and greeting fans.

They include Carrie Fisher, Star Wars' iconic Princess Leia, Freema Agyeman of Doctor Who, Jena Malone from The Hunger Games, Linda Hamilton from the Terminator films, Keisha Castle-Hughes from Game of Thrones, Tom Kenny from Spongebob Squarepants and comic book creators Neal Adams and Mark Waid.

Activities include a gaming area (electronic, tabletop, role-playing, card games and more), a kids zone, costuming, poetry slams, belly dancing and more. There's even a Zombie Walk, film festival and a "nerdy speed dating session."

Fanboys and girls can also pick up their geeky gear in the exhibit hall, featuring hundreds of exhibitors.

Registration for Saturday is $35 and $30 for Sunday. Children $12 and under are free. Photo-opportunities or autographs with the guests cost extra.

And we will be at the convention center this weekend to bring you all the sights and sounds. What would you most like to see? Cosplayers? Celebrities? Neat stuff to buy? Follow us on Twitter and let us know.
