A precautionary boil water notice has been issued for all Volusia County Utilities customers in DeBary and Orange City.

The issue impacts about 7,500 homes in southwest Volusia County.

The county's water treatment plant in DeBary experienced a temporary loss in pressure due to a mechanical failure. Pressure has been fully restored at the facility.

Residents are strongly encouraged to bring cooking or drinking water to a rolling boil for one minute before use. Bottled water may be used as an alternative.

The Volusia County Water Resources and Utilities Division is conducting bacteriological sampling of the water system.

When satisfactory testing has been completed, the notice will be rescinded and residents can resume normal usage.
