A Satellite Beach teenager charged in a brutal crowbar attack which critically injured a 17-year-old boy will remain free on her $200,000 bond, a Brevard County judge ruled Wednesday.

Prosecutors claimed Rebecca Gotay, 18, violated court conditions to stay off social media, cellphones and the Internet since she was released March 6.

At a hearing Wednesday morning, a judge ruled based on testimony from Gotay's ex-boyfriend, who claimed she had been using the Internet, was not credible.

Gotay had admitted she accessed the Internet through an old cellphone. The judge admonished her and re-enforced the court orders until the case is over.

Gotay, along with Jessie Umberger, 18, and Dylan Thomas, 17, are accused of attacking Daniel Vukovich with a crowbar in his driveway in February. Vukovich suffered skull fractures and injuries to his face.

Because Thomas is being charged as an adult, we are naming him, in accordance with our Crime Guidelines.

All three suspects have been charged with attempted first-degree premeditated murder. Investigators said the motive of the attack was over suspected stolen drugs.
