Many along the Space Coast are mourning the death of a dedicated volunteer and former Apollo and Shuttle Program worker.

Steve Bishop, 73, of Titusville passed away on June 28th after a short illness.

Bishop worked at the Kennedy Space Center as a logistics engineer for 36 years.

After retirement, he volunteered at the U.S. Spacewalk of Fame Museum in Titusville. He helped the non-profit's fundraising efforts and its enormous space collection.

He also organized the group's annual golf tournament featuring local astronauts.

Funeral services are set for this Friday, July 3rd at First Baptist Church of Mims.
