The shooting at two military facilities in Tennessee by a 24-year-old man, who was born in Kuwait, has evoked condemnations against Thursday’s attack including among Central Florida’s Muslim American community.

Four U.S. Marines were killed and three were wounded during the shooting in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Police said the gunman Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez was born in Kuwait and lived in Tennessee.

The Muslim community in Central Florida spoke against the shooting during a festival in Sanford to commemorate the end of Ramadan. One of the goals of the festival is to build relationships in the community.

People met at Fort Mellon Park for the festival that was organized by Central Florida’s Muslim American community. Muslim leaders said they want to stress that violence has no place in society.

"These guys are lone actors, they are the distraught human beings who are seeking attention and we must with a strong voice say this is unacceptable," said Atif Fared.

Ramadan is the most important annual Islamic holiday. More than 7 million Muslim Americans celebrate the holiday with family and friends.
