A Lake County doctor is accused of recording video up a woman’s skirt at Publix, and this isn't his first run-in with the law.

In 2011, Dr. Akram Ismail served probation after being accused of involvement in a murder for hire plot. He served jail time after being convicted of disrupting a flight from New York to Orlando in 2005.

The 57-year-old was arrested Thursday afternoon at the Publix in the Eagle Ridge Shopping Center on State Road 50 in Groveland.

Dr. Ismail is accused of recording images under a woman’s skirt inside his neighborhood grocery store.

Detectives said it’s possible he will face more charges once they get a search warrant to look at additional pictures and videos in his cell phone. Investigators said they saw him taking the photos on the store’s surveillance video.

According to arrest report, when Ismail was confronted by a police officer, he let the officer look through his phone and that officer found several similar voyeur videos.

But the officer goes on to say in the report, “At this time, the subject interrupted me and voluntarily stated that he had a problem.”

Ismail’s explanation though is redacted.

We went to Ismail’s Groveland home for reaction but his neighborhood is gated. Dr. Ismail bonded out of the Lake County Jail Thursday night.
