A multi-agency search is underway Monday morning in Orlando for the suspects who ran over an Orlando police officer with a vehicle and then fled the scene.

Investigators said they have identified those suspects all thanks to the officer’s dash cam video.

On Monday afternoon, police found the silver four-door vehicle at 1859 Lake Pearl Drive. Investigators say the car was burned and the windshield shattered.

Orlando Police Officer William Anderson was working a security detail at the McDonald's located at 5400 S. Kirkman Road. McDonald’s regularly hires off-duty officers to patrol the area.

UPDATE: Video shows officer run over by car

Officer Anderson conducted a traffic stop for an unknown reason around 2:43 a.m. at the intersection of Kirkman Road and Vineland Street.

Two people were inside the vehicle pulled over by Officer Anderson. When he approached the vehicle, the passenger jumped out of the car and ran from the scene. As Officer Anderson was moving in front of the car to stop the fleeing passenger, the driver allegedly stepped on the gas and struck the officer, police said.

Officer Anderson fired his weapon during the confrontation, said Sgt. Wanda Ford, public information officer for the Orlando Police Department. It is unknown whether the bullet struck the driver.

"I can tell you this: I am sick and tired of people running from the police, not complying with police officers' orders," Orlando Police Chief John Mina said from the scene early Monday. "And certainly, we are very upset that this individual tried to murder one of our police officers."

After watching the dash cam video, Mina later said he believes it was an intentional act to hurt a police officer and attempt to get away. He said the video shows the passenger jumping out of a silver four-door vehicle and running from the scene.

“As the officer went in front of the vehicle to go after the passenger, the driver of the vehicle basically ran our officer over," Mina said.

Investigators later recovered the car about nine miles away from where the officer was struck. Police will now have to look for clues inside the car that was left burned and the windshield shattered.

Officer Anderson was injured in the incident and taken to an area hospital, where he is listed in stable condition, but is in a lot of pain.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS (8477).
