Sources tell News 13 a roofer, 25-year-old Steven Gang of Orange City, was struck by lightning at a home on Arash Circle around 4:28 p.m.

StormTracker 13 radar showed stormy weather over Port Orange around 4:30 p.m. before the lightning strike.

“It was about over, I would say, it was just barely sprinkling or I wouldn’t have went to the trash can," said neighbor Kim Crosslin. "It was just barely sprinkling and it was just a loud thunder boom, and I seen the light and I didn’t hear anymore lightning after that."

“I thought lightning was going to strike me there for a second,” Crosslin said.

The Port Orange Police Department is investigating what happened, calling it a possible storm-related death until the Volusia County Medical Examiner’s Office does an autopsy, possibly as early as Monday.

“I think it’s a tragedy and I hate that it happened and I really feel bad for the family," Crosslin said.
