A day on the water is closer than you think.

"It is a lot of fun. You're down close to the water," says Walt Disney World Recreation Guest Service Manager Stephen Crib.

At the Walt Disney World Resort, you can take the helm of a zippy "Sea Raycer" built for two.

"We give them some safety instructions before getting in the vessel, give them how to drive real quick; give them a rundown and send them on out," Stephen says.

You control the throttle as you cruise the Seven Seas Lagoon, past the Magic Kingdom. There's no tracks, as you navigate alongside the same watercraft used to transport guests.

Visitors can also rent a "Boston Whaler Montauk" that can hold six or a pontoon boat that can hold eight.

"We have those first time mariners that have come aboard and never driven a boat, they are able to jump on in here and take it for a drive," Stephen explains.

Feeling a little timid? The Lake Patrol is on the water and waiting to assist if needed.

"If you feel like you have any questions, you're going to wave your hands above your head, just like that, and someone will come on over and assist you," Stephen says.

A valid driver's license is needed.

Boats of all sizes can be rented from The Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, the Polynesian Village Resort, Disney's Contemporary Resort, along with Fort Wilderness and Disney's Wilderness Lodge.
