Here's what you need to know about Central Florida's weather for Thursday and the rest of the week:

  • Dry air across Central Florida continues
  • Highs in the upper-80s inland, mid-80s along the coast
  • Rain chances return to the forecast Friday

A few isolated coastal showers remain possible throughout the night. Some may make it inland, but they will remain east of I-4. Lows will fall to near 70 degrees under a partly cloudy sky.

Highs on Thursday are expected to climb into the upper-80s, although coastal communities will stay in the low- to mid-80s. By Friday, our ridge of high pressure begins breaking down a bit, allowing moisture to begin creeping back in during the afternoon. This could lead to a few scattered showers late in the day. Our forecast is currently at 30 percent coverage.

As a trough of low pressure digs out over the lower Mississippi River valley this weekend, our pattern will begin to favor shower and thunderstorm development. A lighter flow from the southwest will continue to pump in moisture. We've ramped up chances for showers and a few storms and have a 30 percent to 40 percent coverage from Saturday through next Wednesday.

Some of the rainfall next week could be locally heavy at times. We'll monitor the situation and continue tweaking the forecast as this next round of rainfall gets a little closer. Daytime highs are forecast to remain in the upper-80s to around 90 degrees into next week with lows in the lower-70s.
