An Army Special Forces soldier from Brevard County was killed in a non-combat related incident in Afghanistan, the U.S. Department of Defense announced Monday.
Sgt. 1st Class Pablo A. Ruiz, of Melbourne, died Sunday while supporting Operation Freedom's Sentinel in Bagram, north of Kabul.
Ruiz, 37, was assigned to Group Support Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group in Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
No other details were immediately released about Ruiz's death.
