Three people were killed and two teenagers were flown to local trauma centers after a crash in the Ocala National Forest early Sunday morning.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the single-vehicle crash, which they said occurred in the 21000 block of SE 127 Street Road around 3 a.m. A motorist traveling in the area reported the crash around 8:45 a.m. on Sunday.

According to reports, a 2001 Ford Expedition, driven by 39-year-old Billy Jo Slayton-Neal, of Belleview, was traveling west on the dirt road when it traveled off the roadway and onto the shoulder.

Slayton-Neal lost control of the vehicle and it began rotating counter-clockwise before eventually overturning, troopers said.

Slayton-Neal, and four other passengers, were ejected from the car.

Slayton-Neal, Scott C. Pummill, 43, and his daughter, Rachel Pummill, 13, died at the scene.

Jessie Porter, 16, was seriously injured and transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center.

The fourth passenger Hailey Landrum, 14, was also seriously injured and was transported to Arnold Palmer Hospital in Oralndo.

The cause of the accident is unknown and is currently under investigation.
