Tremendous growth continues along International Drive in Orlando, and now Orange County planning officials are working with developers to make the road more walkable.

Developers say it's time to get visitors to park their cars and walk around. Increasing the ease and safety of walking is a priority.

At a meeting Monday, developers and county officials discussed building pedestrian bridges.

"You have to get them to park their cars and you have to get them walking safely between all these attractions and all these hubs," said Josh Wallack, a developer. "That will be done by private industry building parking garages, but Orange County helping us build a pedestrian bridge over that intersection. That does it — that gets it done."

Developers will meet with Orange County officials again on May 29.
