Cable giant Comcast announced Friday morning that it is not going to buy Time Warner Cable after all.

A $45 billion deal that would have combined the two media giants has fallen apart.

The deal was dropped due to push back from government regulators who are concerned that the merger would give too much power to one company.

The cable industry is under pressure to consolidate as it faces increasing competition for video and Internet customers.

The announcement comes just two days after Comcast and Time Warner Cable met with the Department of Justice to discuss the deal.
