Climb aboard the tractor and take the short ride out to the fields, where the hills of Ocoee are awash in green and blue.

"They come on slow, and then we have an abundance of blueberries," said agricultural engineer Scott West.

Each April, folks make the pilgrimage to this urban farm.

These 10 acres used to hold citrus trees belonging to Scott West's grandfather, until a test changed everything.

"Me and him decided to put in five acres of blueberries, it did well, so we decided to push out the rest of the orange trees," West said. "He got to see the first harvest."

Today, there are 20,000 blueberry bushes.

"Maybe a little more," West added.

For about six weeks each spring, folks pick, pluck and pop blueberries in their mouths.

Take it from Farmer West's son, Cole. There are four varieties to pick from.

"There is, like, sweet and tart, and ah ... sour ones, and too sweet," Cole said. "They are really sweet, so I have to spit them out."

You, however, won't want to pass on the free boat rides on Lake Primavista before leaving.

"Everything is free but the berries," West said.

The cost of blueberries this season at the Tom West Farm is $4 a pound.

Admission is free.
