Two people in Cocoa are homeless after a fire ripped through their house early Thursday morning.

Brevard County Fire Rescue said the fire broke out in the attic of the home on Virginia Avenue around 1 a.m.

Fire officials say 23 firefighters worked to put the fire out. No one was hurt.          

The two people living in the home were not home when the fire broke out. The Red Cross is providing assistance.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
