A man was found shot to death in the driveway of a home in Orange City early Tuesday.
The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said deputies received a panicked 911 call just after midnight from a home in the 1200 block of Florida Avenue. They arrived to find a man shot to death in the driveway.
Deputies then checked the home and found a marijuana grow operation.
While investigating, deputies got a call from Florida Hospital Fish Memorial in Orange City reporting that a man with a gunshot wound showed up at the hospital.
Investigators learned he lived at the Florida Avenue home. The sheriff's office said their investigation indicates the fatal shooting was the result of an attempted drug-related home invasion involving the grow operation inside the residence.
The victim's name has not yet been released, pending next of kin notification.
The case remains under investigation.
