A man is dead and two others, including an NFL running back, are hospitalized after a drive-by shooting near the Florida Mall, deputies said.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office received a call about the shooting just after 4 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of South Orange Blossom Trail and Southland Boulevard.

The victims told deputies an unknown vehicle pulled up to the Jeep at the red light and opened fire, killing 28-year-old Dreekius Johnson, the SUV's driver.

Passenger Reggie Johnson was shot in the shoulder, hand and leg.

NFL running back Chris Johnson, who was drafted to the NFL in 2008 after playing for Olympia High and Eastern Carolina University, was shot in the shoulder. Johnson, who is currently on the New York Jets' roster, was also arrested Jan. 9, 2015, on a misdemeanor weapons charge after Orlando police said they found two guns in his car.

Both men are hospitalized in stable condition.

The shooter or shooters fled the scene after the crash and deputies have yet to release any suspect information.

The southbound lanes of Orange Blossom Trail were closed for four hours as deputies investigated.
