Daytona Beach police are investigating an accident after a woman's body was found submerged in a retention pond in Volusia County.

Police said they received a phone call around 10:10 p.m. Friday about a car inside a pond at 482 Fentress Blvd.

They said 63-year-old Helen Burrell was northbound on Fentress when she traveled into a drainage ditch, corrected and struck a curb.

The car went airborne and came to rest in the retention pond.
