Dogs were allowed on the “The World’s Most Famous Beach” for one day only Saturday during the Halifax Humane Society’s annual Mutt Strutt 5K on the Beach fundraiser.

Lots of dogs enjoyed the event, which raised money for the animal shelter and Humane Society.

"We're a non-profit,” said Halifax Humane Society CEO Miguel Abi-Hassan. “We don't receive assistance from any governmental agency, or anything like that. We're solely dependent on the generosity of our donors and what better way to bring out the philanthropy in people than to bring them out to the 'World's Most Famous Beach.'"

This year's event raised $51,000, nearly double what the Mutt Strutt raised in 2014.
