The SeaWorld Orlando Animal Rescue Team returned a manatee to Blue Springs State Park Wednesday, which was Manatee Appreciation Day.

The male manatee, Streak, was rescued in December due to cold stress from Blue Spring State Park near Orange City by SeaWorld and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

Streak underwent care at SeaWorld Orlando.  Throughout his rehabilitation period he jumped from 660 pounds to approximately 760 pounds.

So far this year, SeaWorld Orlando has rescued 24 manatees and returned 26 manatees rescued this year and last year back to their natural environment.

If you see an injured marine animal, you can help by calling the FWC hotline at 1-888-404-3922 or by dialing *FWC on a cellular device.
