An 18-year-old man was critically injured Thursday morning in Lake County after he was struck while walking along U.S. Highway 192, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Anthony Gaskin, of Kissimmee, was attempting to cross the roadway, from the north side to the south side, around 6:10 a.m. near Bali Boulevard. He wasn't in a crosswalk, troopers said.

The man walked directly into the path of a Toyota Camry being driven by Daniel Molina, 22, of Fort Meyers.

The front of the Camry struck Gaskin.

Gaskin was taken to Celebration Hospital and then transferred to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition.

Molino and a passenger, Daybelis Martinez Perez, 24 of Fort Meyers, weren’t injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
