Two people were killed in a head-on crash Wednesday that closed an Orange County road for several hours.
It happened around 11:45 a.m. on Apopka Vineland Road, just south of Hackney Prairie Road.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers said Lidiya Varvak, 54, of Orlando, was northbound when she crossed into the southbound lane and hit a Ford pickup head-on.
Varvak was pronounced dead at the scene. The pickup's driver, 59-year-old Joel Shoaf, of Clermont, was transported to Florida Hospital Apopka, where he later died.
Apopka Vineland Road was closed between Hackney Prairie and Country Run Parkway, but the roadway reopened just before 4 p.m.
The crash remains under investigation.
