One of two gunmen involved in last month's shooting at Bethune-Cookman University that injured three innocent bystanders was arrested Wednesday, police said.
Ladell Pleasure, 21, was charged with discharging a weapon/firearm on school property, a felony, according to a Daytona Beach police report.
Pleasure told police that he was at the school the night of the Feb. 23 shooting, but that he didn't shoot. He told police he knew there was an ongoing fight between a people from Miami and Belle Glade.
"(Pleasure) acknowledged being from Miami and being next to the Miami group but denies involvement and/or knowledge of any additional parties," the report states.
All three victims suffered minor injuries, police said.
According to the report, a physical fight broke out before shots were fired.
It's unclear how many shots total were fired. The investigation is ongoing as detectives try to identify the second shooter.
In response to the shooting, Bethune-Cookman University President Edison O. Jackson released the following statement:
We are saddened and disappointed that this occurred on our campus. We want our students to understand the seriousness of this type of behavior. Our expectation is that students will seek alternative ways to resolve conflict. B-CU has strong policies in place to handle these type of issues. If found guilty, we will follow-up with appropriate campus judicial processes.
School officials said they have beefed up safety measures on campus.
Pleasure was released from the Volusia County Branch Jail on Thursday on $27,500 bond.
