At their meeting Tuesday, Melbourne city council members will hear more about an idea to build a new baseball stadium downtown.
It’s an effort to keep a minor league team in Brevard County.
The class-A minor league team Brevard County Manatees currently play at Space Coast Stadium in Viera but when the Washington Nationals leave for south Florida, the Manatees could leave too.
Some city leaders are pushing for construction of a new ball park on a three and a half acre plot of land along New Haven Avenue downtown.
Some business owners are concerned about what that would mean for parking, not to mention how it will be funded.
A presentation of the idea is set for Tuesday night’s city council meeting at 6:30 p.m.
