Volusia County Schools says they have suspended Florida Standards Assessment (FSA) testing in grades 8 through 10 Tuesday after multiple districts reported issues with the new computerized testing system.

Seven Central Florida counties told News 13 they experienced difficulties as students logged in Monday to take the English Language Arts writing test.

Nancy Wait, a Volusia school district spokeswoman, said several secondary schools had issues Monday, but they were not schoolwide.

Farther south, officials with Orange County Public Schools said there were problems with the server that administers the test, but did not elaborate on the severity or impact to students.

Osceola students were able to proceed with testing after experiencing delays logging into the servers. The district said a few students were not able to complete the testing because of technical issues on the state's end, including losing essays when they navigated back to the reading passages.

Several Lake County schools encountered connectivity problems, but were able to resume testing without any postponements.

In Sumter, two schools reported connectivity issues. One school was able to proceed with testing, while the second rescheduled tests for another day.

Intermittent issues were also reported in Brevard County.

Meanwhile, Markham Woods Middle School in Seminole County cancelled testing. It is not known if any other schools experienced issues.

Only two counties -- Marion and Flagler -- said they were not impacted because their testing does not begin until Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.

The Florida Department of Education told News 13 Monday they were contacted by different districts that were experiencing difficulties. They noted students have two weeks and a makeup window to complete the 90-minute test.

"Commissioner (Pam) Stewart is looking into any reported issues to determine the cause and will work to immediately resolve it," the Department of Education said in a statement.

The problems come six days after Gov. Rick Scott issued an executive order suspending the requirement for high school juniors to take the FSA English Language Arts test.
