SeaWorld has its new president and CEO.

The theme park company announced Joel Manby, the former CEO of Herschend Enterprises, would take over SeaWorld Entertainment on April 7.

Manby comes from a company that manages theme parks, aquariums and even the Harlem Globetrotters. Herschend Enterprises is a large, family-owned theme park and entertainment company.

His work with Herschend helped expand the company from six properties to 26, including Dollywood, Stone Mountain park in Georgia and several hotels.

Before that he was CEO of Saab Automobile USA.

Manby has his work cut out for him. SeaWorld has been floundering from the negative publicity associated with the documentary "Blackfish," which came out in 2014.

"We are known for our exceptional operations and world-class animal care," Manby said in a news release. "My job is to build on that foundation while consistently improving and innovating in a competitive environment. I look forward to working with our more than 23,000 team members through the challenges ahead."

David D'Alessandro, current interim CEO, will serve as the company's chairman.
