A 35-year-old woman died Sunday morning following a two-vehicle crash in Marion County on Saturday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Pearlie Gibbs, 35, of Gainesville, was pronounced dead at UF Health in Gainesville at 11:49 a.m.

Gibbs was airlifted to the hospital Saturday after sustaining critical injuries, troopers said.

Jamiya Postell, 10, was also killed in the crash. Postell was in the backseat of Gibbs' vehicle and wasn't wearing a seatbelt, a report states. She was thrown from the SUV and died at the scene of the crash.

Gibbs was traveling northbound on I-75 around 2:41 p.m., a report states.

A second vehicle being driven by Kevin R. Chasteen, 21, of Tampa, was also traveling northbound on I-75.

Gibbs was traveling in the center lane in her Kia Sorento, and Chasteen's Chrysler Pacifica was in the left lane.

Gibbs began to change into the left lane, which caused Chasteen to turn left and avoid Gibbs.

The two vehicles collided as a result.

Another passenger, 18-year-old Jakera Postell, suffered minor injuries.

Chasteen wasn't injured in the crash.

Charges are pending.
