A man was killed and another man was taken into custody following an officer-involved shooting Wednesday night in Orlando.

The shooting happened at the Palmas Altas apartments, located on the 5900 block of Pershing Avenue, in Orange County.

Two undercover drug detectives with the Orlando Police Department were conducting a follow-up investigation when they saw two men openly firing guns in an unrelated incident.

The two detectives approached the two men, and that's when a confrontation happened. One of the suspects, who has been identified as 37-year-old Izzy Colon, was killed at the scene.

A second man, identified as 34-year-old Ricardo Caban, was arrested. He was taken to the Orange County Jail on reckless display of a firearm and possession of a firearm/ammunition subject to domestic violence injunction charges.

The Orlando police detectives have been identified as Yong Hall and Amanda White. The detectives weren't injured in the shooting, police said.

Hall has been with the Orlando Police Department since 2004 and with the drug unit since July 2014. White has been with the Orlando Police Department since 2009 and with the drug unit since November 2014.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement continues to conduct the officer-involved shooting. As standard procedure, the officers are on paid administrative leave.
