A Palm Coast man was arrested Thursday after deputies said he raped an 11-year-old girl he met on Facebook.
Karl Westgate, 19, was charged with lewd or lascivious molestation, sexual battery (person less than 12 years of age), computer pornography transmission and child exploitation and promoting sexual performance by a child.
According to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office, Westgate met the girl online through Faecbook. Westgate spoke to the girl about consumption of alcohol, smoking cannabis and sexual acts, deputies said.
Investigators said the inappropriate conversations occurred daily and for several hours at a time.
Westgate and the girl exchanged nude photos, according to a report.
The relationship escalated when Westgate visited the girl's home and raped her.
Flagler County Sheriff Jim Manfre said the agency investigated Westgate for about three weeks.
Westgate was being held Friday morning at the Flagler County Inmate Facility without bond.
