The search is on for a man who doused a Brevard County clerk in lighter fluid and then threatened to set him on fire early Wednesday morning if he didn't hand over cash from the register.

Around 2:16 a.m. Wednesday, the man walked into the Kangaroo Express at 5881 Babcock St., in Palm Bay, police said.

According to the victim, the suspect entered the store with his face covered. As he approached the counter, the man doused the clerk with lighter fluid. The suspect then held a lighter and threatened to set the clerk on fire if he didn't hand over money from the register.

The victim complied, and the suspect fled the store with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

The clerk described the victim to be about 6 feet tall and weighing about 170 pounds. He was wearing a camouflage-colored hat, sunglasses, a maroon long-sleeved shirt, blue jeans and black gloves.

Anyone with information on the suspect's identity is asked to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS (8477).
