The United States Department of Agriculture is investigating the death of a beluga whale at SeaWorld Orlando last week.

Nanuq, one of the park's four belugas, died Thursday while being treated for an infection. The whale was 31 to 32 years old.

SeaWorld doesn't yet know the cause of death.

USDA is now looking into whether any violations of the Animal Welfare Act contributed to the whale's death.

Nanuq got hurt while interacting with the other animals.

Nanuq was at SeaWorld on long-term breeding loan from the Vancouver Aquarium.
