Three innocent bystanders were shot Monday night on the campus of Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach.

Two people are in custody, after the shooting around 6pm, in the parking lot between the music building and the practice field.

Police do not know how many people were involved in this shooting. And, they believe there could be others out there.

The two young men they do have in custody are being questioned. One of them is a B-CU student.

School public safety officers heard gunfire coming from the parking lot, a common hangout spot, and called 911. Campus police arrived on the scene immediately to secure the area.

"There was some type of altercation here on the campus," said Jimmie Flynt, Daytona Beach Police spokesman. "Some guys in a silver car they started firing rounds about six or seven shots. We have three people that suffered minor wounds."

Those three men were innocent bystanders. They were grazed by bullets, and their injuries are not live-threatening. They went to Halifax hospital for treatment and have been released.

Daytona police said they are still looking for others who may have been involved. They know a man was seen running away with a backpack.

For now the crime scene is clear and school officials say classes will go on at their normal time in the morning. B-CU President Dr. Edison O. Jackson will address the incident at a town hall meeting at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Performing Arts Center.
