A 22-year-old bicyclist was injured after he was hit by a car Tuesday night in Flagler County, deputies said.

The cyclist was traveling north on the sidewalk along Florida Park Drive, near Farrington Lane, around 9 p.m. He entered the street in the crosswalk and was struck by a vehicle.

The cyclist told Flagler County Sheriff's Office deputies that he rolled onto the hood of the vehicle and hit the front windshield before falling to the pavement. He said the driver stopped and asked if the man was OK. The driver then drove away, the bicyclist said.

The car is described as a gray or silver four-door Chevrolet Impala and was driven by an older female. The bicyclist was transported to Florida Hospital Flagler with non-life-threatening injuries.

"Although accidents happen, this is a serious incident," Flagler County Sheriff Jim Manfre said in a statement. "Anyone who is involved in a crash resulting in the injury of any person is required to stop their vehicle, provide assistance and wait for law enforcement."

Anyone with information is asked to call the Flagler County Sheriff's Office at 386-313-4911 in reference to case No. 2015-16494 or call Crime Stoppers at 888-277-8477.
