Marion County deputies said one person is in critical but stable condition after being shot during a drive-by shooting Thursday night.

The shooting happened around 9 p.m. at the Silver Springs Mobile Home Park and Motel, on the 5400 block of East Silver Springs Boulevard.

Deputies said the male victim, who was not immediately identified, was standing outside with two other people near some picnic tables located between the motel and the mobile home park.

According to witnesses, the suspects opened fire at the three from a passing vehicle, hitting the victim. The other two people were not hurt.

The gunshot victim was taken to a nearby hospital, deputies said.

Marion County detectives said they were investigating a possible motive and working to get a clearer description of the suspects, their vehicle and the events that unfolded.
